I think that the last point is "true" only if the blade has been in use for its complete life: in this case the correct and daily use generation after generation would prevent active rust on the blade. This is the same reason why nowadays it is better to rent a very ancient building (to banks or foundations), if you want to preserve it in good condition, instead of closing it: the daily use will maintain the building in a good state.
But if the razor was left in its box and went out of use with very bad consequences for the steel, well, you can't go back to the razor in its original state: you have to decide if you prefere:
(1) a modified razor in original-like conditions ( = shining);
(2) an original-like razor in modified conditions.
My choice is (2), when a choice is possible. And I think that, if not the previous owner, at least the manufacturer could be proud of this.Last edited by clavichord; 06-20-2009 at 04:52 PM.
