Thanked: 20uh, fair market value is subjective as the market you're in is different than that of a scale collector, hence subjective. aside from that there is also the subjectivity of your assessment of the market as well as the subjective translation of that subjective result into a quantity that reflects the object's value subject to your perspective. shipping doesn't change, but the bulk of your decision is far from uncolored.

Well gents, there seem to be a lot of opinions on how to handle this....I can definitely understand the value of sniping, but for one thing I don't know how to set up a sniper for this particular auction site, and for another thing, I think in general it's probably just best to decide how much I'd be willing to pay and set my max bid there, then let the site itself handle everything else. So far, no one else has bid on this one (which is driving me nuts...am I missing something? Or is everyone else just waiting for the last minute?) so I might get lucky like I did on the Dovo.
The trouble is, the maximum I'd be willing to pay FOR THIS PARTICULAR AUCTION is a bit more than my budget will allow at the mo', not to mention more than I'd be willing to wrangle over with my wife. But for now, my bid is in, and it's beefy enough to withstand some sniping, and there we go. We'll see what happens in a little over two days.
If I win, not only will I have some eye candy but some restoration projects with a LOT of potential. Yeah, this one is all about the potential...

I won. It was not as cheap as I'd hoped, nor as expensive as I feared, but here we are.
2 Filarmonica 13s (one sub cero and one Inox, chipped but not irreparable I hope).
One Herder (rusted, but edge looks passable in the pic)
Three random Japanese Razors (one with a truly disturbing name/symbol)
One No-Name Spanish Razor
And two with no name, of which I haven't seen a pic.
Fingers crossed there are no cracks or anything...
I'm gonna be a busy little bee with some restoration work!Last edited by JimR; 08-12-2009 at 02:23 PM.

It's a "Natch" razor, which is only disturbing if you know how the Japanese pronounce the name of a particularly disgusting German political party from the early to mid 20th century. It also features a helmet adorned with a rather famous symbol of that party.. I edited it out because, well, I don't like it...I honestly don't know what I'm going to do with the razor.
By The Way, would anyone know what the two razors in the middle might be, with the cream handles and the extra long tails? They apparently don't have any stamping...I'm thinking maybe Chinese? But not Double Arrow, they have a "third pin" and what look like adjustable pins at the hinge.Last edited by JimR; 08-12-2009 at 02:39 PM.

if i were you i'd hone it and use it. if it bothers you that much i'll take it.
being german it should be pretty good.
for what i know my vintage pumas were used by gestapo and my sheffields belonged to war criminals....
the meaning of a symbol is usually what we put into it.

Congrats on tour winnings.
But No… don't remove the symbol, no need to glorify, but keep the razor, hone it, use it, display and treat like any other razor. This one has purpose...
We must never forget!
