    Default Oh man...

I'm sure some of you have seen this, but there is a sweet Russian straight for sale on the bay, ending in about 2 hours. Comes with box and all, print is in Russian. Would be an awesome acquisition for a student of Russian such as myself, but the key word there is student, and I just can't swing the $14 shipping. Hopefully someone here will score that fine piece of work.

Someone here did in fact score that fine piece of work. I was thrown off by the shipping charges myself but just couldn't let it pass by. I'll post pictures once I have it cleaned up.

I know what you mean, I considered going after it myself. I can't wait to see how it looks cleaned up! If you ever feel like letting a catch like that go, be sure to shoot me a PM.

Congrats on a beautiful purchase my friend

Something about those Soviet era blades. Historic as you say. I got two of them earlier this year - one from Israel and another from a seller in the US. Both are kinda cool but I haven't had a chance to try them out yet. Someday. But I think Wapis are essentially the same thing - made behind the Iron Curtain, so many have have had a chance to shave with "Soviet" blades at some point.

Now if I could find something Russian and pre-Soviet that would be really cool. I didn't find a link, but was the blade from pre-USSR?

Seller claims the razor was manufactured in 1956.
