    Default Wade and Butcher

***Warning beginning of rant****Every single time I bid on the Wade and Butcher meat cutters someone comes in at the last possible moment and outbids me..GRRRRR!
I can't believe how popular those have gotten, at one time it wasn't considered much...I should have kept some. I just want a few to restore and actually use...and have those nice etchings on it..
    ***End of said rant****
Whew okay I feel better now.

you can get meat chopper made by other well regarded makers,
    John Greaves and sons,
    John Wostenholm
    Frederick Reynolds
    just to name a few.
I personally do not understand why W&B is so popular , to me its just hype not attest to better quality.

well then keep on bidding and eventually you will score a good blade.
You can also check the antique stores in your area at least the prices will be so much more reasonable.

Just keep looking, I picked up a W&B Barbers Rattler on ebay a couple of weeks ago for $15 including shipping, The scales are shot but the blade is in good condition, If you look for ones with damaged scales they go pretty cheaply.

I've never heard of John Greaves, but William Greaves I am quite familiar with. It also seems that J Wostenholm's (marked "Ebro") are quite a bit less common than George Wostenholms (IXL and Pipe), though both makers put out fine razors.

There are ton's of W&B's so the name became well known so demand goes up. Even with the large supply, the demand seems larger still. That's all it is.

Joseph Rodgers and Joseph Elliot are two other names you might add to your list.

Interesting. I think the seller is the guy that JimmyHAD said honed the sharpest razor Jimmy has ever shaved with.
