My RAD is in remission .... sometimes
So this afternoon Manyrazor had a Puma 95 ending. The razor was basically mint in the box with all of the paperwork and what have you. I was going to bid $230.00. Matter of fact I set it up to bid in one window and watch the time in another. As the amount changed and the seconds ticked by I thought about what I would do with this if I got it.
Because it is mint and vintage I would admire it and wipe it down when it arrived and then I would put it away and look at it maybe once every six months and wipe it down again. I would never use it. So I didn't bid and I let someone else become the custodian of this fine razor.
Had it been used a little .... and something other than a round point ... maybe I wouldn't have been able to resist but I am custodian of too much stuff that I don't use anyway. I don't know how long it will last but lately the mailman hasn't been ringing the bell and no more 'new' boxes that I never throw away to clutter up the pile.Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

For me the RAD hits in spurts. And when it hits, it hits hard. And then I can't afford to get new razors until I let some go. So I go awhile without buying any and say goodbye to many. And then I need MORE!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanked: 19ha ha ha .. good for me that I do not have RAD or HAD ... really I don't feel the need to own as much razors, hones, strops... as I can. For me it's easy and simple I just want to own them ALL and I am doing my best to make that happen .... pretty soon I will post in the WTB section of the classifieds a list with some of the items I am looking after ... I always have this list and pretty much never drops under 50 razors ... even do I find a few items from that list every week. You get the idea.

Thanked: 132Amen brother Jimmy!
Finally i feel that my insatiable appetites for stones, is finally abating. It is a good feeling to stay off ebay and let others worry about who is going to get that priceless, extinct stone.....NOT!! LOL!
Okay, so i still have some work to go, but stones are of course, a different matter, compared to straights...at least to me. ;-)

Mac, I was sure stones wouldn't be an issue with me when I got into this. What is attractive about a hunk of rock ? Boy was I mistaken. I still have a hard time with certain naturals and the hell of it is even if I already have similar stones. I went through a similar thing with strops but I am over that .... one day at a time and the hones as well. I hope.

I bought a couple of razors last month (a DOVO Bismarck and a Boker Edelweisse) so I'm not even looking at the moment. Spent about £200..!
I really really really really really really want this Wacker I saw but I`m not even looking at the website. If I do I know I'll buy it and I cant justify spending the money at the moment.
Ah well, at least Christmas is coming..!

I watched it too, the same way I would regard a beautiful woman passing in the street. To admire, but not worth the cost of acquaintance.
