Thanked: 20Hummm, guys, the Civil War was from 1861-1864. What else might be off target with this razor?

Thanked: 20the price, genius.
the reason why the seller listed it under civil war is clear when you look at his other items; this is the category he sells, the category he thinks he knows. he clearly comes across straights incidentally and didn't even bother to put fredrick reynolds in the text description to be picked up by searches!
besides, the scales and hollow belie a later date for this razor and FR is dated c. 1892. the point is that it is an FR not that it has any connection to the civil war.
so, what are you trying to say, mickey?

Did you notice the crack running 1/3 of the way up the blade starting from the back of the chip? Because some of us did.

Thanked: 20Well, pretty much what you said. I don't think this guy knows what he/she is talking about. If he/she isn't clear about the dating on this razor, he/she can't be too clear on the condition and whether or not is a good shaver or not. This is an instance of "buyer be ware".

I doubt whether hollow grinding was practiced during the civil war. Only in the late 1800s industrially made razors were hollow ground.

Thanked: 20Yea, after the fact. You didn't mention this in your first reply.
But I do see a blemish where you indicate and on both sides. Looks like you may be right. I'll return it saying it isn't civil war
