    Default Interesting strop...

There is an interesting strop listed on eBay OLD RAZOR STROP IN A BOX WITH INSTRUCTIONS!! - eBay (item 310190360603 end time Dec-29-09 17:04:09 PST)

I have seen one in a local antique shop, but couldn't see exactly how it works because the belt was quite stiff. I know that there is a slot to slide your SR into it and then alternate pulling on each end of the belt.

Interesting, What do you use now? a hanging strop? Don't know how good it would work considering that you don't see too many around anymore. I'd go with the traditional hanging strop, which has stood the test of time.

I said, Intersting, in the sense that it is not common to see it. I have looked for it on the net and couldn't find one. I currently don't have a strop and have yet to shave with a SR. You're probably right about it not working well and that is the reason that you don't see them. I only posted the thread because it is not a common item.

Might be worth it just to have as an interesting item - even if you don't use it. Nice addition to a colection.

I was looking at that thing too (an auction last week, maybe the guy that sold it to this one. :P)... thinking "No way it'd work".

Makes me think of the disposable "sharpeners" available today. Or the electric kitchen knife grinders from the 60's.

Or maybe trining wheels for your first bike!

There's a strop in the local antique shop that I frequent, that reminds me of this thing. It's a small thing about 2 inches wide, a foot long or so, with a metal bracket designed to hold the razor somehow. If I could figure out how to use the damn thing I'd probably buy it for the wow factor.

Thee one that I saw looked like there was a hook to attach the steel part that the razor slides into and then the leather had two handles and you just alterenate pulling each end and somehow to strops the blade.
