    That's a nice blade.

Since we do not discuss pricing openly like your request ...

Pay as much as you are willing to pay.

The problem I have is with the corrosion and the seller saying that he would throw the razor away. This would be my first razor and I would like to start out on the right foot. I really don't want to pay $100 for this and then have to shell out more to restore.

IMHO I would buy something on the cheap with a known good edge or purchase new from a reputable vendor. I got my first in the classifieds here for cheap. Considering honing will run you $15 plus shipping, anything under $50 is a steal. Having a sharp edge is the only thing that matters. If you stick with it, you can (and likely will) pick up more blades later.

Look up that razor at, for example Straight Razor Designs (looks like they offer the best price). Add USD 25 for honing and shipping, plus possible USD 30-50 for restoration of the eBay razor...

This razor will sell for WAAAYYYY more than a new one because the blade is a ultra-rare carbon fiber blade!!! Get your bids in early

Seriously, if you want a great razor to start with, check out the ones restored by Bob Keyes. No, he's not my brother-in-law or anything, but I've bought lots of really nice restored razors from him, and each one is just perfect -- fresh, shiny and sharp as hell. His site is www.bobsrazors.com, and he also sells on eBay under altima55. Great guy to deal with too.

For a first razor I would suggest something else, Fritz Bracht's name will bring a good price.
