Default what an Ironic name for this razor

I don't think the name they chose for this razor probably didn't turn out to be a good descriptor. Looks like it's seen a hone more than once

    Nev-A-Hone Razor

you know, I have had 2 of the so called Neva Hones, and they were both in horrible rusted shape. Naming a razor that way is just asking for it!

That blade has definitely seen better days. Someone obviously took a belt sander to it and failed miserably.

The NEV-A-HONE name isn't that much worse than all of those I*X*L and NON*X*LL razors you see. I wonder why all of the "pun" razor names, though. Was this kind of like the fashion for naming consumer products way back, or maybe just something unique to razors?

I suppose Wade and Butcher was the result of a corporate merger. Do you think there was ever a razor called the Butcher razor? Now *that* would be an ironic name ...

Actually Wade & Butcher started off as just plain Wade and was succeeded by a company called Butcher, Brown & Butcher. Check out www.taylors1000.com -- this guy has a lot of razor history on his site.

Yup, that massive wear is from some sort of grinder or sander, not honing.

maybe the name fits then... you nev a hone this razor, just hit it with the belt sander from time to time

Maybe the name needs to be changed to "Neva Shave" razor!
