Default Seems he's trying to get away with being dishonest...

Take a look at this: Antique Wade & Butcher Straight Razor! - eBay (item 290399656281 end time Feb-12-10 21:02:42 PST)

Look carefully at the first and third pictures. In the first, there is no etch on the blade. In the third, there is very clearly an etch. There is no way it is the same razor in both pictures. It appears to me, not to put words in the seller's mouth, that the third picture is to make the razor look larger than it really is by showing a different, but similar razor. This also means there are no photographs of the scales of the razor.

I sent him a message pointing out the very clear difference between the 1st and 3rd images and asked him which razor he is actually selling. I wouldn't show someone pictures of a model Ferrari 355 F-1 Spyder and an actual Ferrari 355 F-1 Spyder and insist that the model is worth as much as the actual car just because they "are similar."

    What a dolt...

Looking at the scratches on the 1st and 2nd pic I wonder if he reground the razor. The third picture being the original razor.

Wow. It's also telling that we have two crummy eBay-league photos followed by a lightbox do-up in a razor stand. Somebody needs to credit his photographer...

It looks like different razors to me too.
    Check this out:
"I have seen W&Bs like this sell for over $400! Comes with original leather case shown in picture!"

#1 the most expensive one I have seen was a 9/8 (not a 6/8 ) and it went for ~360, with a blade with etch and in excellent condition unrestored.
#2 if you can't tell leather from cardboard /paper then you can't claim anything about the condition of a razor.

    Seller's response was:

"Sorry, the third picture was a mistake. I will post a photo of the scales shortly. The are black genuine horn and in excellent condition.

Maybe it was an honest mistake...

Hmm... that would make sense. I've accidentally uploaded the wrong picture here before, when I'm choosing from a list of file names rather than thumbnails.

Ha, that's funny that this blade came up. I actually purchased this blade from him and returned it (sent it out yesterday :S)

He had actually listed it before with only 1 picture which was a "Celebrated Hollow Ground" I've been looking for one and bought it.

I then received it and it was a typical 6/8's W&B.
