Angry Check out the great "7 day set" on ebay!

    Hey guys,

Check out this set advertised as J.A. Henckels 7 day Set 4/8 shave ready straight razors

J.A. Henckels 7 day Set 4/8 shave ready straight razors - eBay (item 130365995491 end time Feb-16-10 16:23:22 PST)

The seller is "mysterydoll" and wet shaving is obviously a mystery to her. She has different razors of different brands, unmarked with the days of the week in a box which looks suspiciously modern. Hey, maybe this is a great marketing idea. I could have my 11 year old make up shoeboxes with slits in them for each day of the week. Then I could put in a bunch of random razors. At $200 bucks a box I can quit my job in a few months and put the kid through college! Also, she claims that these are shave-ready. What are the chances of that?

If I'm not mistaken, mysterydoll is a forum member who is now "retailing" gold dollars on ebay after having been involved in at attempt at a GD group buy here on the forum.

You are, I believe, mistaken. That was "Mystery Razor".

Mysterdoll...that one sounds like the lady who tried to charge me $35 for shipping on a single razor.

**sorry, no, that was someone different...**

    Ahhh...I guess I was wrong....that's the dude.

It is a wee bit misleading, isn't it? Especially with that Koeller & Schmidt.

But, then again--7 4/8 razors in a wooden box for $200. That's less than $30 a piece. It's actually a pretty good deal, if the razors aren't junk and ESPECIALLY if they're shave ready.

Anyone taking odds on the shave readiness of these razors? I'm laying 20:1 against. By the way, I was so outraged at the mis-description, I wrote the following email to mysterydoll:

"How is this a 7 day set? First of all, a true 7 day set use all the same razors, but for the day of the week imprinted on each razor. Secondly, the are not even all Henckels or even the same era. Lastly, the box is not original to the razors. I hope there are no buyers here because you have misrepresented what you are selling. They should be sold separately as individual razors."

And I actually got an answer back, which read:

    "
You may be correct about a seven day set. But I have honestly described the razors and the condition and I did receive them as a set. Maybe I should describe them as a 7 day rotation. Thank you for your help.--Jay"

Regarding the shave readiness, there are members on here who have bought GD's from him that were advertised as "shave ready" and they have said that the razors were indeed shave ready. However, since I've never got one from him myself and I don't know of anyone who's word I would take without question, I am skeptical.

I am at a loss as to why the OP felt compelled to post this. If you aren't interested in the auction, don't bid. The seller posted your question and their answer on the auction. They seem to be pretty upfront. Just seems that posting a negative thread, with derogatory statements, about somebody you don't know or had dealings with, flys in the face of a gentleman's forum.

    Just my $0.02

I think the OP's problem is that this auctioneer misrepresented what the item was. It's not a 7 day set, it's just seven different razors put into one box. I can understand why OP posted it.

If they were purposefully misrepresenting the item, they would not have opted to make the OP's question public. I believe they did it to clear up any confusion. The pics and the description already said that they were not a matched set.
