I think Max has a TIPTLE too, which is why he was pointing out the auction here. I don't remember whether he said he liked his.

I'm pretty sure Max does like his very much and IIRC mparker762 is also very enthusiastic about his as far as shaving goes.

    Wink

As far as the "only a mother could love it" appearance of these classics goes, don't you suppose that may be the reason Pierre hid these under his bench?

they definitely have an odd look, but i've got to like it. almost picked max's when he sold it.
in person it's indeed small razor, more or less the size of heljestrand mk31.

They are 5/8ths, but there is a bit of variance. I wouldn't think a full 8ths however. I know the barber notch varies a bit also. They were hand forged so some variance is to be expected.

While they are small, 5/8ths is a good size and these shave so well you might not care anyway!

I know others here were bidding too, but I finally got one of these. I love the history of it, and I hope it's a decent shaver. I read elsewhere that at least a few people had problems with the pins not being straight. That's pretty hard news when the razor costs $350 or more. Anyway, here's the photo from eBay, and I will post more when it comes into my greedy hands!!

Jeff, oddly enough I bought mine from the same seller in March of '08. Mine is a great shaver and I'm very happy with it. A bit of a warp in the blade on mine but hones up with the compensating stroke. My guess is you'll like it. You got it for way less than the last one that I saw sell on ebay a month or two ago.

Thanks, Jimmy! Like any of these rare blades, you don't get to select the one you want from inventory, right?! Anyway, I hope it works out, and keep an eye on the Classifieds section, because I will be selling one of my kids there to pay for this sucker!
