More than my current razor buying budget allows for! Maybe in a few months the W&B craze will die down and I too will get a "chopper"! Just a note, we are discouraged against valuing/appraising razors on this site.

Discussing price is discouraged on SRP. Besides, there is too much to consider to make a general statement on it. Lastly, many of the more senior members, me included, cringe at the prices razors are selling for on eBay these days. Most of my W & B's come from antique shops and were had for a fraction on the eBay prices back then and especially now. Best advice is to be patient and stay within your budget or finances allow for. Seems to me more money than brains on eBay lately.

This is the auction talk forum... I suggest you post the link to the e-bay razor trust me it ain't no secret, if it is on e-bay, these razor hounds already have it in their watch list

We do discourage pricing info on SRP in general, but if you post the link one of the more senior mentors or members might help you out by way of PM...
We are a bit more lax about such talk in this sub-forum about e-bay razors too...

If these are consistently bringing high prices at auction, then that's the way the market is going--auctions are, in my opinion, as close to a "free market" as you get these days. No MSRP, no overhead to cover, just buyers paying what they think something is worth. If you watch programs like "Antiques Roadshow," when they price an object, what are they using as an index? The prices similar objects have been going for at auction.

You can (I did) get them MUCH cheaper at antique shops, but that means you have to go out and search...and get lucky. I have no doubt you can also find them at roughly the same price in some shops, as there are certainly owners who watch ebay to check prices.

So assuming that eBay prices are NOT "fair" is, in fact, completely wrong. There is no fairer price--there are certainly cheaper, but cheaper!=fairer...

You could always try searching Ebay's completed listings to find comparables.

    Get this book as well:

Standard Guide to Razors: Identification and Values: Amazon.co.uk: Roy Ritchie: Books

Its not gospel, but it does give a useful guide line when you're looking at eBay razors and deciding how much to bid.

It does seem like W&B's are popular at the moment. The other place to keep an eye on is the classifieds. They come up in there sometimes, and because its not eBay you dont get some crazy bidding war!

I've noticed theres a real tendancy at the moment for bidding wars on eBay. Maybe its just due to a resurgence in popularity for straights? More likely, as others have said, its too much money and not enough sense..!

    Good luck on your search!

Sounds cliche, but it's worth whatever people will pay. Supply and demand determines value, there is no specific formula to determine a value for antiques that I'm aware of.
