Tradera
The Swedish / Scandinavian ebay: I managed to register for this this week - took emailing with them - but often the best auctions are restricted to "Swedish/Nordic" bidders. A beautiful Helje No. 33 (I think it was 7/8! At least 6/8...) sold for $75. I was dying. Grrrowl.
Anyone else run into this problem? I dont understand why a seller would do this. It clearly just limits the pool of bidders and thus likely lowers the final selling price.

Yeah, that's annoying.
I am about an hour's drive away from the boarder of Sweden (In Norway)
So close, but yet so far...
It's the same thing with both the US and UK ebay though.
Lot's of people only want to do business domestically.
Once I do a search for something, that's the next thing I look for. Where they actually are willing to ship to.
The worst place of all is Amazon, "The items in your basket cannot be shipped to your address, please select another location"
Grrr, annoying!Bjoernar
Um, all of them, any of them that have been in front of me over all these years....

I think it has something to do with the shipping costs that are cheaper (and easier to find out) between Scandinavian countries.
Paying is a bit more complicated also as bank transfer is usually the only way to pay. This is not with Tradera only, it is the same with almost all Scandinavian as well as Finnish internet auctions.
That is a shame for people outside Scandinavia, because every now and then there are a lot of nice razors for sale. Most of them are Swedish but there have been some nice German razors as well.'That is what i do. I drink and i know things'

I have had a few nice razors from Tradera, unfortunately many sellers will not ship abrouad or outside Scandinavia.

I've seen this with eBay where the sellers restrict the sale to US only or US/Canada only. No international sales. Possibly stg in the past or they just don't want to deal with the shipping hassles.

You can do trackable shipping overseas, it just might be a bit more expensive.
Also, I will share this: I have had good luck emailing sellers and asking them if they will open up auctions I'm itnerested in to international bidders. So far, I think, every time I've asked (3-4 times) they have done so with no problem. One wrote, "Oh, I didnt think anyone would be interested from other countries!" Well, then, what's the harm in allowing the possibility? If only I had known I could do this, though, when that 33 was selling.... SIgh

tell me about it i often see PC parts at a great price but the most definitely wont ship to the UK where they will then charge an arm and a leg for exactly the same product
but to be honest if you ship to and from UK/USA the cost isnt all that bad except some online retailers want $30 to ship something relatively small and light like a cheep razor - but then i suppose its the insurance that kills the deal

As well as the logistical, economical and legal issues, this can also be a language issue: The seller might not want; be comfortable; or be able to discuss in English. You need to acknowledge that not everybody uses english as their primary language.
