    Default Vintage Thuringian?

I found this auction on ebay and was surprised there weren't many bids. It
looks like a thuringian to me.... I would say it sold for a good price if it is.

Ivan, you know more about this stuff than I do, but could this color stone really be a Thuringian? I'm just curious, because I actually own one now (and I like it very much) but the color is more of a bluish, steel grey. There's no green in the stone at all, and I've never seen others that look even the slightest bit green. Now if you think it might be a Charnley Forest, that would be another story . . . !

I think so, plus with this quality of ebay pictures the white balance is anybody's guess, so I wouldn't read too much from the color.
You've seen a thuringian already, so you should be able to tell if your other hone is the same, they're pretty distinct type of rock, regardless of the color.

I wouldn't trust the color of pictures but it does seem close and the dimensions are identical to a vintage Thuringian of mine. With Ebay, you never can tell...It could be a bargain or worst case, an expensive paperweight!

It has the correct dimensions to be one of the "barber's delight" Eschers. It isn't far in color from my labeled Escher light green. If the bottom side looks rough hewn it may very well be an Escher. OTOH, you have to put a razor to it to see what you've got.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.
