Thanked: 25I prefer my #14 Doble Temple honed by Sham over the #14 EPBD. It's double-plus wonderful, but I still prefer the Wusthof I bought from Sham.
Today I bought a #13 DT on the bay for $202 to round out my collection. Sorry to whomever I beat for that one, but I was willing to go to $250.
I guess I am part of the problem

That is quite a bit more than I paid for a lightly used Livi Takeda Damascus 6/8ths. And I would much rather have the Livi.
I do have a Barbas Duras, but it is a 13 and cost less than half of this 14. Plus you don't see a 13 Barbas Duras every day.
While the razor is no longer made, the demand seems out of proportion. The sellers are sly foxes, and I don't suppose we as a group have done anything to lessen demand.
But my razor buying days are over for a while. The HVAC unit in the house went south this last weekend! I won't be driving up the prices on anything for a bit.Last edited by Hawkeye5; 03-30-2010 at 03:44 AM.

Thanked: 4What about prices for Filarmonica Medallon series?
I see them getting sold on EBay for around $500.00.
Are they better shavers then regular Filarmonica DT 13?

I guess it depends on how much you want a Filly!

+1 That is all there is to it really!
I'll bet that 50 bucks is all it would take to get a good shaver, perhaps even less.
My best Filly cost me half of the EPBD, but I still wanted the EPBD asap
My fear is that it's really gonna start to cost me a pretty penny when I start to look at the fine customs out there..
That $1450 Livi for instance..
RAD is funBjoernar
Um, all of them, any of them that have been in front of me over all these years....

Too bad you're not closer to me, I could have given you a great deal on a new unit and could have taken that #13 of yours as partial trade
I have used a filly 14 and find that it is quite similar to a 7/8 Tuckmar round point I have, but I actually prefer the Tuckmar shave, and the scales are much nicer. Also, the price was about 1/10th the cost of a filly. I'm still looking to buy a vintage #13 or #14 when my Wade and Butcher collection is completed(this week most likely).
