Default Baurmann for auction -- wow

Here's a cool razor for sale right now, but the price is going straight to the moon -- 10 bidders, $400 (Monday at 1:30 pm) and still rising.

Has anyone ever heard of these razors? I've seen lots of the same brands for sale over and over, and the name Baurmann does not ring a bell at all. The razor is really, really nice looking, and appears to be in mint "time machine" condition, so it looks like a once in a lifetime opportunity.

Anyway, just to have the chance to post about something other than a Filly is worth it to me!! The auction number is 180486507157.

I have a couple of Baurmann's, and they are just amazing shavers. The "Sunrise" model is one of my top 10 razors for style and shave quality. Neither looks like this one, though, and neither cost me more than $100. From the appearance, it would be a very old one, and it is both shoulderless and has a French point, which are features neither of my two have. Looks to be a quite uncommon Baurmann, out of an excellent line of razors, so the uniqueness may be driving up the price.

That is a beauty. Going to the actual listing and looking at the worked spine on a NOS vintage piece like this I can see where the enthusiasm is coming from. If I had the extra $$ I would go the distance on that one. Unfortunately ..... or maybe fortunately ... I do not.

The french point, shoulderless and worked spine... you should look at the rest of the razors that this seller is listing.

Wow! I'd love to get a look at the ones he's keeping. Those are something else. Beautiful collection on the block there.
