Thread: German officer's razor?! Oh please.

This is a new low, even for the 'bay.

This guy is selling a completely ordinary Crown & Sword razor. They're decent blades, and I even have one myself. But he's calling it a "GERMAN OFFICER'S RAZOR" like it's some kind of military artifact?! And look at the price -- $200!!!

This is just complete and total fiction. Not that deception and distortion is rare on eBay, but to make up crap like this out of nothing but thin air still puts this guy in a special category.

Anyway, the auction is 250372545174.

I like the German Officer's Toothpick (aka ground down Henckels) even better. The good news is, people stupid enough to buy militaria do not really deserve any better.

There is a rumor that this razor was once used by der Fuhrer to trim his mustache.

Some time ago there was a guy listing a razor that he claimed as Al Capone's for high bucks and a women who had what she claimed as Jesse James razor. Another with 'Nancy Hanks' stamped on the tang claimed it belonged to Abraham Lincoln's step mother. They don't say caveat emptor for nothing.

There is what looks like a crack on the scale near the rear pin. If that is an "Officers razor" I would hate to see what the enlisted men had to shave with!

Just a small reminder that der Führer was neither an officer (lance corporal), nor German (Austrian).

how do you know this is a German officers razor?
there appears to be no markings to this on the razor, and if i were to purchase it i would like to know how I could tell its story and possibly trace the officer.

this is a personal item and they were never marked with Waffen numbers etc. For this
particular razor its provenance attributes it as German officer's WW2 item. It came to us as
part of a lot of captured German gear and equipment. The regular soldier's razors are simpler
types and often safety razors, which makes this an officer's item with high degree of
certainty. There's no way to track the identity of its owner.

I like this guy, he throws in just enough pseudo-jargon to sound authentic, but without actually saying anything.

"Waffen numbers" = sounds like something Nazi officers would have

"provenance" = fancy auction word, but dude is using it incorrectly

"captured German gear" = pile of old crap someone found somewhere in Europe

"regular soldiers used safety razors" = more crap I just made up, and who knows, it could be true!
