Default Wostenholm's IXL Patent Shaver Razor

Does anybody have any information on this razor that sold on eBay?. Here is the item number if the link does not work 200459119352 I have one just like it that I payed $36.00 for it from a antique store (it's not for sale), and I cannot find any information or any documentation for this razor. I know the company is well-known for straight razors and knives, but single edge razors they must have made a limited amount ?. I would like to use mine but I don't even know what type of razor blade it takes single edge or wedge ?. It must be a pretty special razor for someone to pay $220.00 for it on eBay. If you are the winning bidder of that auction and can shed some light on this razor please let me know. If someone else has one like it and can gave me some information on it and show me what type of razor blade that it uses and the way the blade goes in the razor I would appreciate it also. Thanks

Didn't know Wosty made a single-blade safety. Looks like an early lather catcher c.1897-1905. The neat thing about this is that the attachment shown attaches to the handle after you unscrew the razor so you can strop your blade up and re-insert it into your razor.

Nifty device...you usually see these in either Gem or Star varieties.

I did not know they made one either so when I seen it at the antique store and went back home to try to do some research and could not find anything on this particular razor. So I bought the razor at the antique store. I recently searched eBay and noticed there was one for sale so I watched the auction and was very surprised how much the razor went for. Mine is missing the strop attachment, I think my razor is in better shape it looks like it's never been used. It says on the razor Eng. June 17, 03 & USA. Feb 23, 04 I can't seem to figure out what type of bladed it uses there's a part that slides off with a round nut that holds it on the razor frame. The area where I think the razor blade goes looks like it may take a wedge blade but I do not have any wedge blades to see if one would fit in that spot. Surely someone else as this razor that can come up with some information for me.

Dunno if it takes a standard SE or a specialty blade...take a look at this and see if it's worth looking into to see if you can use this modification to fit into the Wosty:

I don't think that particular modification is going to work on my razor. I had someone from B&B send me some information on this razor and it turns out it does take a wedge razor blade. So now I am on the hunt for a wedge razor blade unless there is a modification for a single edge razor blade to be used in a wedge razor.
