Thanked: 2Le Dandy--purchased on Ebay
I just won this razor on Ebay. The item number is 260599599262. I went ahead and bit the bullet to buy this item because it is a Thiers-Issard, and went for a wonderful price. I was wondering if anybody could tell me anything about this item. The seller does not have much posted about it, and I'm not sure if he knows much about it. Does anybody have any idea what grind it will be? I realize that the blade is going to need some TLC, and the scales are chipped, but I can live/work with that. Any other information would be appreciated.

Your biggest problem aren't the chipped scales, it's the chips on the blade. In my opinion that's restoration territory, so it may end up a bit more expensive than you expected.

Thanked: 2It is a beautiful razor in my opinion. I may have to send it to someone for restoration, but I'll cross that bridge when the time comes. Thanks for the replies.

I gave up at $45 due to the work I would have to do to it...

For the $ I think you did well if you are okay with the chip in the scales and if you can hone it out. If you don't hone and if those are the only chips it isn't that bad IMO. I hate people posting photos of blades that don't show the whole blade but leave the heel concealed within the scales. I always wonder if they think they are being artsy or if they are concealing damage. Anyhow, good luck with your TI.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.
