    Default Le Dandy--purchased on Ebay

I just won this razor on Ebay. The item number is 260599599262. I went ahead and bit the bullet to buy this item because it is a Thiers-Issard, and went for a wonderful price. I was wondering if anybody could tell me anything about this item. The seller does not have much posted about it, and I'm not sure if he knows much about it. Does anybody have any idea what grind it will be? I realize that the blade is going to need some TLC, and the scales are chipped, but I can live/work with that. Any other information would be appreciated.

You can find quite a few razors in our database, the Dandy among them:

Thiers Issard "Le Dandy" 5/8 - Straight Razor Place Wiki
    FieldsData
    Manufacturer Thiers Issard
    Region Thiers, France
    Date 1850's
    Size 5/8
    Point Round
    Shoulder 2 stabilizers
    Jimps Lower
    Scales Plastic
    Steel Carbon
Cracked scales, chipped blade - wouldn't have been on my wish list, really. But if you're happy with the price, that's great.

Your biggest problem aren't the chipped scales, it's the chips on the blade. In my opinion that's restoration territory, so it may end up a bit more expensive than you expected.

It is a beautiful razor in my opinion. I may have to send it to someone for restoration, but I'll cross that bridge when the time comes. Thanks for the replies.

So you are the one who snagged it from me....

I gave up at $45 due to the work I would have to do to it...

Hope it works out well for you...

For the $ I think you did well if you are okay with the chip in the scales and if you can hone it out. If you don't hone and if those are the only chips it isn't that bad IMO. I hate people posting photos of blades that don't show the whole blade but leave the heel concealed within the scales. I always wonder if they think they are being artsy or if they are concealing damage. Anyhow, good luck with your TI.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

All I can say is sorry, even though I am glad that I finally won a TI for a good price. If it makes you feel any better, there was someone else who almost bid it out from under me, and at the last minute.

Thank you for the wishes. I am not sure if I am going to try to hone it out myself, or if I will send it off for honing (I haven't had a lot of time for myself lately).
