A follow up on the hone.
I asked the seller yesterday (a day after I won the stone) about the hystory and here is the reply:
Dear friend,I don't know anything about the history of this stone! The only think I know is that is about 70 years old German natural stone, that I bought in Germany, and is no longer minded anywhere on earth except Germany(new thuringian hones, but I don't know if their quality is similar). This company maybe is a small branch that Escher had cooperation with!
Anyway you got a very nice quality German hone for your straight razors in a very resonable price and you sure gonna take your money back(even more)whenever you want to sell it!

    Sham,
I have not had a chance to test much because I also got 3 new Nakayamas.
But here is the initial impression.
the stone is very dark gray uniform color, light gray slurry.
I did the standard 50 laps with thick slurry and then diluted for extra 20 laps. Edge then was put to CrO bench stop and 40/60 on hanging strop. The shave was very smooth. Compared to the thuringian you sent me to test, this guy is smoother IMO. A comparison to Escher would be interesting, but I do not own one. To me this is a great finishing stone and at the price I got it it's a steal.

Looks like a steal. The sellers other items are also very attractive, some nice stuff for sale.
Don't get hung up on hanging hairs.
