    Default Pays to be nice

So I moonlight here as a Paramedic to keep my medical skills up as best I can being in a rural area. Last night I went to a call down a county road a good ways out of town. The patient was an elderly woman that lives alone. Anyway she needed to go to the hospital and during the ride there I just carried on a normal conversion with her and we had a nice visit as we say here in Alabama. Here is where it pays to be nice I could have just monitored he condition and not talked to the woman which some medics seem to do. She asked if we would be able to give her a ride back after she saw the Dr. and I told her that if the hospital called us back we would be happy to bring her home. Well the call came and we took her home. When we arrived at her home and brought her back in I hadn't noticed the Barber pole in her home when we picked her up and commented on it and that I had recently started to use a straight razor. She was surprised at that but didn't say anything. I thought that was the end of it.

Well I just got off the phone with her son he called the ambulance service to thank use for the way his mother was treated. The service got his number as he wanted to talk to me. So when I received the call I called the son back and he thanked me and asked if I did use straight razors I said yes and he asked if I wanted to buy some. Apparently his grandfather had owned some sort of knife and razor shop that had been passed to his dad and then him. He has been cleaning out the old warehouse and stumbled on as he put it "huge boxes of razors still sealed" he was going to throw them all out as junk but asked if I would like to take a look at them and buy the lot . So I'm off to look at some huge boxes of razors will post what I get if anything. Wish me luck

Dang! NOS goodies. You lucky dog.

Why can't I get patients like that?

Strange women lying in ponds distributing swords is no basis for a system of government.

That's a nice bonus, but I don't think anybody is nice for the occasional deal. Glad to hear you've helped the lady.

And hopefully we'll get some nice pictures from you soon

So I got to the place and looked into the boxes of rusted and ruined straights. It looked as if the blades had acid poured over them or something. There was a lot of animal waste smell in the warehouse so maybe whatever was in there had used those boxes for that purpose. The only brand name I recognized in any of the boxes was Torry though but thats not saying much as im fairly new to SR shaving

that's unfortunate. brand names don't matter at all when the razor has turned into rust...

I can only imagine the let down. Keep strong, & remember, you have our sympathy as you deal with this pain.
