A TIPTLE toothpick
Why, oh why, would you do this to a TIPTLE? The seller says that the razor was reground because of the needs of his "heavy beard", but I can't understand how grinding a beautiful razor like this into a toothpick would help anything.

Maybe the razor had an issue. I'm pretty sure that I've seen the same razor for sale on Ebay before. The serial number looks familiar.

I've also seen a TIPTLE for sale, earlier this year, with the gold oval removed and lots of wear. I don't know if this one is the same razor or not.
What struck me instead is that the seller seems to be saying that he himself made these changes (or asked for the changes to be made) to the blade!
Now, that may be completely false, but if it is true, WOW -- would you really take such a rare razor and grind away at it just for some imaginary benefit for your "heavy beard"? I'm not as experienced at this as some, but if it's true, in my book this would qualify as one of the stupidest things you could do with this razor. I mean, why not just sell it in its original, unmolested condition and instead use the money to buy 4 or 5 other razors more suited to your "heavy beard," if that's what you want? Kind of like painting over an original piece of artwork because it doesn't match your sofa cushions.
Anyway, I'd be surprised if the dude even gets the opening bid of $99 for this hot mess.

I saw that yesterday and just hung my head. A shame to deface a perfectly good razor like that much less a TIPTLE.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

It's funny that every single person who shaves says that he has a "heavy" or "tough" beard. Mine feels like copper wire when I let it grow for two days, but does that make it "heavy"? And why the heck would grinding a razor down to 4/8 make it better at shaving any beard, much less a "heavy" one?
Sorry, I'm ranting, but every time I see this razor, it gets me mad all over again.

Perhaps he dropped it and it chipped badly? Who knows. I highly doubt he did this simply for the hell of it. Must be to redeem some damage. After all, had he genuinely spent the time to do the work purely for the reason stated; why is he parting with it?

Good point, but even then, wouldn't you just say, "I dropped it and messed up the edge, so it had to be honed down to 4/8 to get rid of the damaged area." I mean, if you're honest about it, I think that might give a buyer some level of comfort about what they are getting -- a repaired TIPTLE that isn't worth what the original is worth, but still probably a really nice razor. What this guy is peddling, however, is either a complete lie or completely stupid, neither of which makes anyone want to buy from him.
Some sellers just don't understand how to sell things -- I guess that's the problem.
