Really nice W&B
Here's a really, really nice W&B sold by an SRP member and a really good good guy, Brad. I was tempted to bid on this when it was about half the price it sold for, but I was obviously way out of the price range for purchasing it. Anyway, very nice sale and great razor for whoever got it.

I was watching this one and wondering just how high it would go. I was pleasantly surprised, for Brad, at the dizzying heights the price reached. A beautiful piece of workmanship, and a well deserved pay-day at the end...

You've got to be kidding ! Did they think they were bidding on a Filarmonica Barba Duras ? Three cheers for Brad and I'm glad he got the $$ for it but that is a new high for a Celebrated Barber's AFAIK.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

From what I see, anyone who puts the work into restoring one of these babies almost never gets the value of the work back when the blade is sold. So, to me, this is just an example of Brad getting paid something close to the true value of all of the time and work that he put in. Sure, some would say that nosebleed prices like this are reserved for "flavor of the month" brands like Filly, but I would take what Brad made over any EPBD and never look back. Congrats on the sale!

Thanks guys. This was one of those complete surprises... I expected about half of what it ended at, given the condition of the blade.
That said, several people decided it was worth more than 600 to them at the end there, and I guess I can understand it given the rarity of 9/8+vintage blades, and the price of customs...and sometimes, you just want something, you know?
Anyway, the buyer is a true gentleman and has been a pleasure to work with. I don't believe he is a member. I hope it will bring him some happiness every day he picks it up for a shave.

That's a nice-looking razor.
I've suspended my Ebay buying for awhile, until I can get the razors I already won honed."Age is an issue of mind over matter. If you don't mind, it doesn't matter." Mark Twain

Same here. I buy razors 5 times faster than I restore them. I have about 50 waiting to go through the buffer then to scales. I get side tracked easily. That's a great razor though and I really wanted it. I decided I'd bid more than I usually would for a WB chopper(got quite a few already but none this beautiful yet) but when I checked back near the end my jaw dropped. I had to back away and go for a cheaper 9/8 that needs some work. Oh well, nicely done and congrats for setting what I believe is a new record!
