    Default Another Cushionback Hone

This auction has been going down in price as no one's bidding. My question is whether or not the leather looks useable or salvageable:

DE HARDWARE PAGOMA CUSHION STROP BACK HONE-EX.RARE - eBay (item 300447560535 end time Jul-25-10 10:06:19 PDT)

The hone itself looks in good condition and I've asked the seller for more pictures of the leather. It's 5 1/2 inches long by two inches wide.

The leather looks good but seeing a picture is not quite the same as holding the genuine article in your hand.

Sham, I have to agree with Mark, just because the picture looks good does not mean the leather is good. I bought a vintage strop one time from an ebay seller, the pictures were perfect, but when I got it the upper layer of leather had very small cracks in the surface. Be careful.

I've already ordered materials to make my own little twelve inch strop that will be handy for travel, since I need a new one anyways. I just liked the idea of a strop/hone combo but it seems I'll be better off just grabbing a Swaty or another barber hone to take with the strop.

When I travel, I always take a barbers hone just in case.

I had one cushion hone/strop and the leather was almost as good as cordovan. The hone side worked really well too. I think a good combo like that could do really well for travel, but then finding a good one can take few tries.
