Guys i didn't respond to this thread Because i was the seller.
Now action end i can say something.
    what should seller do ?
if i don't know something about the particular stone that doesn't make that stone worthless.
Norton razor hone always sold higher price then even Escher's.
    Why etc is another question.

Why is simply because it is what the axe men are willing to pay. Demand determines the market. I hope you made a huge profit!

    What should the seller do?

Well, you put the items up there for sale. You described them fairly and honestly. They are well known as highly valued stones. The auction and bidding established what "the market" will pay. You did very well.

I sincerely hope you make a lot of money on this deal. I imagine you can use it! I hope the buyer comes through and pays promptly. I hope the buyer is delighted with a rare and useful pair of hones.

We've all had a good time watching how much this pair of stones has drawn. You can be sure, I'm keeping my eyes open for a good deal on those hones, and probably I will sell them on eBay!

Congratulations. I'm glad someone on SRP who has helped a lot of us learn is the one who gains from the sale.

If you ever find another one of those, could I perhaps rent it for a couple of weeks? I'd love to try one some time without actually having to buy the thing.

MADNESS!!!! Just give me my Naniwa's. They get the job done and leave me with a few bucks left over to enjoy my occasional Peter Lugar steak.

But on another note. I remember when this seller put up the thread about acquiring that old Norton hone. What puzzles me is this. If it is such a great honing stone why would he give it up so quickly? I've acquired some pretty sweet vintage razors that shave fantastic. I know I could get a MINT off of them but I wont sell because in my opinion their quality level and scarcity makes them invaluable and almost irreplaceable.

Good one Sham. I hope some ax man wins a competition or two.

KomJong, as for "getting the job done", well, you can drive a pinto or you can drive a caddy...you'll still get there.

I offered him my first born in trade but he didn't need a 42 year old women ...... has enough kids I guess.
