    Default BEAUTIFUL BLADES

When I first saw the listing I was taken back by the detail in the Blade design of the heel. Does anyone know what the design is called or referred to as? I really like the design. Lately I have really been looking for straights that stand out and have uncommon features. It amazed me that the bidding just suddenly shot up through the roof. I knew for sure this would be an easy bid win. Guess there are others with similar tastes as mine. Check these beauties out.

I had my eye on these razors...and watched them go high for me, and rightly so -- they are simply beautiful. I believe them to be real tortoise, and are in exquisite condition.

I absolutely love the design -- I don't think there is a name for that tang/heel design, it is just purely decorative, but, boy howdy does it make those blades stand out from the run of the mill sheffield wedge.

I've seen a W&B with the same heel/tang, unfortunately it was too far gone to be saved.

Thanks for the link, what a gorgeous pair of razors! The notch in the tang is something you see on some English, German, and even American razors on occasion, but not very common. Don't know what you call it. Those scales, on the other hand......there is no mistaking the genuine article. We won't see the like again soon on eBay.

Yes....My exact sentiments. The RAD is really starting to kick in on this one.

Absolutely beautiful razors! Thanks for posting the link.

The bit behing the heel is quite often seen in C V Heljestrand razors, but the notch is a little different.

    Regards,
    Neil

Thanks Konjong! Here is a pic of a 6/8 Heljestrand:

The smaller ones look a bit more like the pics in the link you posted. Not all of them have this sort of configuration, though - some have just straight shanks.

    Regards,
    Neil

I've got 2 or 3 shoulderless straights ( a Tuckmar and a Le Grelot off the top of my head) with the same notch in them. It obviously served some purpose.

True, but I ponder the question, was that purpose purely aesthetic?? Perhaps because it's beauty has truly evoked an awe inspiring bidding response! I can definitely place these razors in my top 5 list of the most attractive and distinct straight razors I've seen.
