So, what exactly am I looking at here?
Being generous and saying that case is worth $500, each of those razors is "worth" about $800? They don't look phenomenal to me, but I'm just wondering if anyone knows what they are?
Straight Razor display case with 18 assorted celluloid handle straight razors
Unique scales, if nothing else.

Well ...... I don't know if that site posts the actual price paid or only the original asking price. If someone paid that much for those I'd be surprised. OTOH, the guys who collect fancy scaled razors are a serious bunch. I'm frequently amazed at how much some of them bring on ebay. So while I'm thinking someone made an offer less than what was posted I may be wrong. I was wrong once before.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

That's true. Though, I did a bit of digging and it seems like these may be some of the more exotic scale designs put out by Terrier Cutlery, which I discovered was a sort high end product line/subsidiary of Robeson Cutlery. It only operated from 1910-1916, which means they are pretty hard to find at all, let alone their more exotic models. Finding them all in an original advertising display like this in good condition would appeal to a few different types of collectors. While I can see someone paying a small fortune for something like this, it still seems ridiculously high.

It just goes to show what the meaning of chump change is to plenty of folks out there.
