Sage advice before diving in to this one?
I found this, and wanted to hear from an experienced shaver:
WWII GERMAN ANTIQUE MEDICAL SURGICAL STRAIGHT RAZOR - eBay (item 230572501811 end time Jan-18-11 12:22:22 PST)
I know SS is tougher to hone. But hear it will stay sharp longer.
My first and only shaver now is carbon steel
being that I've never purchased a razor through ebay, I'm nervous to get started.
if this SR is really as durable as it looks, I'd be very happy
I really like the industrial design, and wanted to know what problems (if any) to look out for with this specific shaver.
2 years ago I made the mistake of buying a Kriegar. I didn't know this site existed, and where to research SR shaving.
I don't want a repeat mistake.
Thanks in advance for the help!!

Thanked: 13245Looks more like a Wapinenica to me, commonly called Wapi's around here
But, SS is not harder to hone, I have never known it to stay sharp longer either, but it does rust slower
As to this razor if it is German, I have no idea, if it is a Wapi the I have a bit of experience with them...
Either way it really depends on the price, to give you an idea Wapi's used to sell brand new, between $9-$22 depending on where and when you bought them...
My suggestion is always the same though if you are asking the question then you should NOT be shopping on e-bay..
There are several vendors right now offering low cost shave ready vintage steel and there is always the Classifieds here...
