Default I missed out on this one

O.K. Who beat me out on a Horace Caste Steel razor from the late 1700'a/early 1800's. (I can't get the link to embed.) I just like to know how much higher you'd have gone. No hard feelings.

Very nice scales for a razor that age! I would not be surprised if it had been rescaled.

I don't think wood scales that old can look that new. Especially given the condition of the blade and the available ways to preserve it. I'm pretty sure it's been rescaled.

Horace...Smorace.... That recaled early tool can't hold a candle to this old Pipe in the box... ebay link on the fritz.... search everlasting

Way more coolness factor with the pipe...Only my opinion...

Thanks for the heads up, Hoosier.

    I missed that one.

FYI -- the pipe in that auction (I had my eye on it before this post lol..thanks for that hoosier ) unfortunately has a cracked scale @ pivot with a large chunk of the scale missing-- it will not be holding long, if it even is right now.

    Too bad. its a beaut.

I imagine it is right around when Wostenholm got started, if it is in fact a wosty!

Sorry Brad... nothing goes unseen on ebay by more than a few of us razor crazies... That Pipe would have done nicely in an auction by itself for sure and prior to some recent purchases I would have given it a go with a healthy bid. For now I must sit on the sidelines or explain to my Blonde Nurse why so many packages keep arriving day after day. That particular one would be a fine centerpiece for a Wosty collector indeed!

Gotta agree with you. That old Pipe is AMAZING. But that auction is going to go way over my top bid. Hate to miss out on these great pieces of history.

    Over mine, too.

Just had a service done on a watch and have spent the bulk of my allowance.
