not at all. it doesn't matter when the bid is placed, the auction ends at a predetermined time regardless how you bid

To me it's a double edged sword. There are times that I hate it, but I'll admit I've done it. I've been sniped with less than two seconds to go. It seems with some things sniping has become such a common place with eBay that it's losing it's original 'mystique' and annoyance.

This thread is worthless without a webcamvideo rant. You could be the next ginger kid!

To join the choir here, it is only pulling something out from under you in your own mind. When you bid, Ebay says "enter your maximum bid". Someone else will come along and enter their maximum bid (time-frame isn't an issue). The biggest number wins! The illusion that you are winning an auction might get your hopes up, and it does suck to lose an auction you really, really wanted. But that doesn't make it ungentlemanly, or dishonest.

If I had access to your treasure trove of sources outside of eBay I would seldom bid on anything either! That said, I post my maximum bid and win or lose, most of the time, unless it is a razor I REALLY want. Then, I do a manual snipe in the final few seconds. Most of the time I don't win the razor, because I only bid the maximum I am willing to pay, like Jimmy and others. There will always be another one along, maybe with less revealing pictures or detailed description, and you can bid low and hope for the best.

I don't think I've bought a razor off ebay in almost 2 years . But when I did most of them were sniped . It started becoming addictive , so I had to stop . I mean, how many razors does a person really need ?
Greetings , from Dundalk , Maryland . The place where normal people , fear to go .

    I think the generally accepted formula is: R + 1 = N
Where R is the number of razors you have, and N is the number of razors you need.

Strange women lying in ponds distributing swords is no basis for a system of government.
