Puma or not?
So, do you think this one is a rare Puma, or a mouse in cat's skin?
BTW it sold for 2x what another proper one sold for just a couple of weeks earlier.

Thanked: 5I noticed the lack of tang stamps....sorta makes you go hmmmmm! Not that it isn't possible, but looks a lot like a Dovo 55 (the modern ground sort available at a few spots). I have heard that there is/was at least some sort of co op between the 2 makers at one point so I guess that doesn't shed a lot of light

shank has a stamp?
if not then it is not a puma.
or could be defective one twice? doesn't make sense.

I was at a gun show on Sunday. Gun guy had a single razor, a Puma, in the display and I asked what he wanted for it. He told me $50 bucks and my heart was beating faster. So I asked to see it and the blade had no stamp, no etch while the scales appeared to be correct with the inlay and what have you. Could've been a McCoy but mama didn't raise no fool so I passed.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

Thanked: 5I may have been mistaken...but I was looking at one on Ebay (pretty sure it was that shown by OP) and it was without stamping on either side. OP please correct me if I am wrong

Why does the scale inlay look like it says: "RUMA"?
Chris L"Blues fallin' down like hail." Robert Johnson
"Aw, Pretty Boy, can't you show me nuthin but surrender?" Patti Smith

I wouldn't assume it's fake. Never have seen a fake razor before. I have seen Filly's without tang stamps... To me, Filly's and Pumas shave very similarly... A lot of them look very similar too...

They are legit. Early to mid 1980's Puma. I bought mine NOS from a Puma dealer / OZ Cutlery just outside of Atlanta.. (if you like knives and guns you must see this place) The pumaknifeman online sold a similar one as OP's pic for over $200 on eBay last year. I sold mine and a NOS Inox Pumasteel Microtome for $200 on B&B BST.
