Thanked: 7Do they not ship? I didn't see anything on the website about it but each item says where they are to pick it up.

You really know how to fan the flames of RAD!
I strop my razor with my eyes closed.

Very nice. Someone is fuelling RAD here.

They mention several shipping options. The majority of these items will be purchased the world over...it would be fun to be in the auction setting proper and view and handle the items personally...plus to see who shows up, and to meet Mr. Doyle himself. I'm only bidding on a couple items but will watch each lot with great interest.

For those who might not be familiar with Robert Doyle, he wrote "Collecting Straight Razors" in 1980 and "Celluloid Handle Guide for Straight Razor Collectors" in 2005. He has been an auctioneer for decades and a straight razor collector.
I doubt if he is a straight razor shaver but I don't know for sure. The first of his books is the best one I have found on the subject with many photos. There is no focus on brands but more on history in general and more of a focus on fancy scales.
The more recent book on celluloid scales was a disappointment to me. The book is chock full of beautiful photos of fancy celluloid scales without showing the blades. Sort of indicative of a guy for whom the shave is not the primary attraction. Anyway, as nice as some of those stub tails are to us, the stuff he is selling in those listings is nowhere near as nice as some of those shown in his two books. He is keeping the primo stuff .... but can't blame him, wouldn't we all do the same ?Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

Definitely want to get one of these. I don't really have any older blades. I don't want to bid against you guys. Is there a procedure to this?

bid your max, the person with the highest bid wins
that's my procedure anyways
the thing is that if i am to not bid because somebody wants a particular razor, what's the guarantee that they won't bid a couple of dollars and be outbid by somebody else, while i'd be willing to pay say $15 for the same razor.
at one point few years ago several people and i had a bidding club of sorts, where you could declare interest in a razor and the max you would be willing to pay and if another guy wanted the same razor and was willing to pay more money for it i wouldn't put my inferior bid as he'd win over it anyways. he'd still put his max bid and if he gets outbid, that's just life. it only works with people you trist and in a private system.

I'm a little confused over the shipping, do they ship personally or do you have to arrange your own shipping?
I have had a read and cant find anything definative?
I have seen one that has caught my eye...I'm not greedy
Thanks for the link.
