new buying strategy (for me anyway)
this isnt really an auction tip, but I didn't know where else to put it.
most of us already like to check antique stores for good razors, but how often do we do it when we're just passing through someplace. The reason I bring this up is there are places like where I live with a good size population, but few people into straight razors. I realized this when I clicked on the community tab at the top of these pages. For instance, I live near a city with just over 380,000 people and there is only one other srp member shown on the members map within a couple hundred miles. Maybe there are others that aren't on srp(or not showing up on the map), but I dont think there would be that many. The point is when traveling it might be a good idea to see if your passing through an area (like this) with lots of people and few srp members. With few of us there it turns into a buyers market for vintage razors because they're harder to sell (unless one of use stops by).
Actually It took me a bit longer to put this all together then just looking at that map. It really came together though when I found a pristine wade & butcher minutes from my home....plus a keen kutter, a chicago worlds fair razor, another wade& butcher, a bowdin wedge, and one that I cant remember the name of right off hand all in one antique mall. I would have remembered the name of the other but about the time I asked about it I also realized the w&b was pristine and it kind of distracted me.
just thought I would pass it on.
