you guys are right about that, but then the other option will happen, where if I overbid, and some monkey wants to pay $70 bucks for a rusted out duck, I'm stuck paying my overmaxed bid amount of $75 for a blade worth $30 bucks. And that situation is almost as bad as losing it

Actually, I think that is worse
One thing I have learned using ebay, and learned the hard way, is that no matter what razor or other thing I've been after, there is always a new one coming along.

So I put in what I'm willing to pay for it, and then just wait for the result. I win some and I loose some. C'est la Vie!

That's what I do , too . You can't really lose . You either get the item for what you think it's worth , or you don't get something you would have paid too much for .

+1 on the responses thus far, but just maybe the said "monkey" is looking to restore the blade and relist it where it might easily fetch well over $200, not bad for a $70 investment. I only mention this because I recently lost an auction for a Dubl Duck in which the final winning bid was $241.50 which was almost $200 more than I was willing to pay for the duck. Someone may be experiencing buyer's remorse right now, but it's not me. As for a question of the blade's worth, it is really only worth what you or someone else is willing to pay for it when it comes to auctions. So you may have lost one by $0.01, but who's to say next time you won't make out like a bandit? Bid but bid wisely.

I've received 858 positive feedbacks as a buyer on ebay and 303 as a seller. I've left quite a few that I didn't receive a reciprocal feedback for. So, point is, since 1999 I've bought a lot of stuff on there. Sold a few hundred items too. I don't look at ebay much anymore unless I'm the seller. I got to the point where I was glad when I lost. Then I knew it was time to ease up. Just me, if you're still cool with it enjoy yourself.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

Too true reardensteel, too true. Monkey may have been able to justify spending 70$ on a beat up old duck blade. Not me

I know exactly what you mean, Jimmy. Sometimes I'm very happy when I get outbid.

Been there and agree 100%. Maybe that's a sure sign we're suffering from a AD or two?

Well I'm just getting the disease, and am more than happy to eat rice and cereal for awhile to buy more razor crap I don't need on ebay
