Thanked: 0Where Do They All Come From?
My first post. Hello to everyone. I've been buying a few razors lately, and notice that on Ebay there are 3 or 4 sellers that have the most beautiful razors. Sometimes, they have three or four of the same razor. If I looked at every estate sale for the rest of my life I wouldn't find that many rare razors. Where do they get them all?

Dead folks. Someday someone else will be shaving with yours. Welcome to SRP and enjoy 'em while you have 'em.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

Thanked: 1185Well played good Sir...well played indeed. I would only add that I am consistently pleased with all the dead guys' razors in my rotation. And as a more specific steer for the OP, dead guy razors can often be found at antique stores and flea markets for affordable prices. Generally though a bit of elbow grease is required to make them nice looking dead guy razors. The good part is that assuming structural integrity most are plenty serviceable without the mirror finish (although that is really cool.)
I plan to pay it forward when I'm a dead guy. My grandson will be an easy convert but my son may be a tougher nut to crack. In a perfect world they would split my straights between the two of them. By the time I take the big dirt nap that should amount to about 250 razors a pieceLast edited by 1OldGI; 05-26-2011 at 10:04 PM.

To true.
The sale of estates is a big business.
Some of the folk you see on eBay have
standing orders to purchase all the "shaving"
gear that shows up. Some are good with
buffers and a camera ....
If you want your collection to pass to hands
in the family make sure you make it known.

Funny Jimmy. That's what we say about pocket watches too.

I'm taking my family jewels with me. I might not be able to do much with them, but I don't want anyone else playing with them.
