Thanked: 3795Bidders are stupid
I've been avoiding eBay for the past several months. Auctions and unemployment didn't go well together, but since I'm again gainfully employed I thought I'd take a gander at some hones for sale. Hmmmmm...there's a Frictionite with 11 hours to go maybe I should take a look at that one, or maybe not, given that the bidding is up to $256 for a freakin' barber hone that ain't even that rare. I know this because I have acquired at least half a dozen of them without even trying.

Sometimes tools become collector's items. A frictionite is not something I would pay big bucks for but it is no different than seeing a razor with fancy celluloid scales and a junk blade go for hundreds.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

Thanked: 9Have you seen the Puma on there for $1200? Thankfully, it appears no one has been dumb enough to purchase it as yet.
I think that's just how it works- you find something even remotely known, and suddenly the price goes way up.

I say Axemen. As I said in another thread, I asked an Axeman about the Norton hone but he told me he preferred his Frictionite...so maybe word has gotten out about these, too?

Every hone is AWESOME. You just have to figure out what it's awesome at. Sometimes it's just weighing down papers, though.
