Default Another to good to be true thread.

Another to good to be true?

There is a vintage razor hone for sell that has PERFECT labels. These lables are so perfect that it is starting to make me wonder about the authenticity of the stone. These particular labels are what make the price so high.

The seller also only has 7 transactions under his belt so feed back would be unless in this case. The seller is also from Europe.

This label looks like it is brand new. No darkening of the paper, nics, cuts, torns, whatever. The label is so new looking that I'm having a hard time getting past. I have to think it's fake. The label does contain the correct information. I'd imagine it would be difficult to make a new label to put on the stone. stone itself also looks good. It would been a stone that has had minimal use throughout the years.

Are there such tings as NOS natural stones? Anyone...seemed wayyyyy fishy to me. Am I being paranoid?

    Any other thoughts?

If it seems too good to be true, it probably is. Getting a great deal requires winning the lotto or knowing what to look for combined with a lot of looking

Okay, I assume you must be referring to this one ... Item number: 150619796946. What strikes me is that the label doesn't cover the stone from end to end. IME Escher used labels that would go from end to end and even slightly fold over the ends and sometimes the sides. Here is a thread I posted awhile back showing this. BTW, I've had a couple of NOS Eschers that are a hundred years old, so it is not impossible that it is genuine. I wonder about that one though.

That one just seems too risky....without some expert geological opinion or something, or maybe Jimmy's personal testimony on some rock that is presumably going to sell for what...$400 or more?? -- I couldn't do it. It could just as easily be my Guanxi. C12k. Peoples' hone. Commie coti. Slave labor natural. Somebody stop me

Haha, I read that as "couple of hundred NOS Eschers".

For me this one apart from the label, is not well represented in the pictures to be able to tell.
I am looking at the face of the stone and is hard to tell if it is escher or not.
I have a dark blue and it is much lighter than the one in the pics, may be the lightning is bad but it looks very dark.
Also I recall a seller form Hungary, had Escher with same label to stone size before, NOS and all that. I wonder if was the same guy.
