This is an interesting one.

Yep It's been in my watch list for a while, it will be interesting to see what kind of money the set finally makes.

This one is in the list too, I'm not sure about it, there is something not quite right but I can't put my finger on it.

The sellers estimates the age to be first quarter 19th century. I tend to agree. Maybe I'm missing something (wouldn't be the first time) but it seems to be all above board as far as I can see.

That set looks awesome.

Just IMHO, the 7 day set is great for a collector. For a shaver I'd have to see the rest of the blades. That corrosion coming up from the bevel on blade pictured might be too far into the bevel to ever get to good steel. Maybe, maybe not, but I wouldn't take a chance on it.

The Elliot is a beauty and I wouldn't be surprised if it doesn't bring as much as the set. Those decorated ivory scales from back then are rare AFAIK. Read about them in Robert Doyle's book. Scale collectors are crazier than we are.

I restored a 7day set exactly like that for one of our members. The days of the week are surface etched into the spine. The razors are a bit shorter than usual. I think they measure out to 2.5 ". Nice little smiling wedges.
Excellent little shavers. The blades fit into the scales with a sort of clicking system.

Here is the catch: the scales don't close. If you fold them closed, they hit the edge. All blades I restored had a ding in the edge at that place. If you want to buy it, ask for a pic of each individual blade.

I noticed that. Looks annoying.

I'm not bidding on this, by the way. If anyone else is planning to, you won't be bidding against me. Just posted as a curiosity.

The scales on this are meant solely for balancing the blade. There's a fairly big chunk of lead used as butt spacer.
I had to admire the craftsmanship on the lock though. The blades click into the lock without any wobbling or looseness. For such an old mechanism it was still better than most of what gets produced today.
