Something strange about this one Sheffield steel?
A typo on the stamp?
It looks like some sort of chrome coating that's peeling off at the tip? Is this a show piece or something? An old knockoff?

Thanked: 335You're right, that flaking is strange. I wonder if it was created as a chrome plated sales model that wouldn't corrode from the handling by a myriad of fingers.

There are real razors that have chrome plating on them out there, but that's not one that I am familiar with.

I also noted on the tang stamp it says "SHFFFIELD STEEL", not SHEFFIELD. You'd think a Sheffield razor maker would know how to spell the word.

So what do you think, legit shaver? Worth a shot?

I would think it's legit, but I would also be worried about the peeling chrome at the edge (if that is what it is), and what caused the steel underneath to turn that color. Not a gamble I would take, personally.

I wouldn't touch that thing with a ten-foot Zeepk.
