I would guess that two guys both decided on their absolute max, and entered it in. I'm sure both hoped no one else would have a max anywhere close, and we can see they were both wrong.
As to why they wanted those stones so much, only they could tell you.

e***n's bid of £20.12 got outbid and perhaps he meant to bid £21.80 which wasn't enough and accidently deleted the dot. s***e may have seen his snipe fail (-7s) and tried to enter a high amount quickly (-1s) thinking nobody would be crazy enough to bid more than £100
Someone in chat once told me he did something similar but I can't recall the details.
The stones don't look special to me.Last edited by Piet; 10-25-2011 at 05:42 PM.

Thanked: 1371Maybe the one from the UK is a Devonshire oil stone.
I'm not sure what they look like, but I guess I can assume it's not one since the bidding didn't include souls.Last edited by HNSB; 10-25-2011 at 06:27 PM.
Strange women lying in ponds distributing swords is no basis for a system of government.

If that is a Cutler's Green, then I have a few. I doubt it is. The blue one I have seen before.
Hopefully Neil Miller may advise, but I think we may see these relisted.

Thanked: 1587General consensus in the chat is that we should report this to the relevant authorities as suspicious behaviour. The best guess our intelligence department has made is that an Evil Ukrainian genius (who is very rich) is creating a weather machine, of which these two stones are a vital component.

Maksim showed a 'Genuine Blue Sharpening Stone' just like it. Might have been sold by Salmen, I have a similar little box with their logo.

Thanked: 19As long as we are speculating... It's possible that the two individuals are engaging in illegal operations (drugs or money laundering)...
Hey Joe... I'll sell you this key of coke for 10k!
Ok... but I can't cary that much cash on the plane with me...
Hey Joe... I got these sharpening stones for 10 bucks at home depot and made them look old... How 'bout you give me $3,000 for them... We'll do that 3 times... That's 9K. You can send your old lady over to take care of the other grand...
It could happen!

Maybe I should sell my cutlers green stone, if they make that kind of money.
(Jeltz wonders off to find a stone he can call a cutlers green and put on ebay)Regards
