Unopened C-MON HF on eBay: how old could this razor be?
Somehow, someone got a hold of a few unopened vintage razors. The C-Mon can be seen here:
Vintage C-MON HF PETER J MICHELS Straight Edge Razor New Old Stock Boxed | eBay
My question is: how old is this razor (approximately)? I ran into this post by manah about C-Mon's and found it quite interesting. Seeing that the company moved to NY is the 1920's, and this razor box is marked "Made in Germany," does this mean that it dates prior to Carl Monkhouse's relocation to NY? Anyone's thoughts on this would be appreciated.

The razor is made in Germany but the retailer is from the U.S which is a common occurrence. I don't think those razors were ever made in the U.S.

Oh goodie! A link to a live auction for a unopened, boxed CMON. We can kiss that low price out the window.
I wonder if Joe knows about this auction...

I've seen a lot of this sellers straights on eBay; probably cleaned out an old barber supply house somewhere. There is a 7 day return policy which is always nice. I don't buy unless I can send it back if I'm not satisfied; too many variables.

I do now but I didn't pay anywhere near what the current price of this one is for mine. As to when it was made, my guess would be the '50's or more recent. This would be tempting but I do not pay that type of money for most of my razors and they shave just fine. I still have some Cadillacs and Blackies that still have the factory edge on them and have yet to shave anyone but I did open the boxes.

It seems it was $6.00 dollars at the time, I've always wanted to know how much did razors costs...
