The first sentence in the above quote is absolutely key in a successful ebay transaction! Ask questions! These questions are documented through the ebay system and are imperative when disputes occur. I also concur with Disburden, it may be worth the money.... in ebay lessons learned.

Because the scales might not be original?

If you buy a French Razor blade with German scales, does that make it French or German?

For that matter the blade might not be original - the ad doesn't address originality, it simply describes the razor (which is the whole ensemble of blade, scales, spacer(s), etc) being offered.

PS the ad actually states the razor is made in Germany by Solingen - go figure

This comes under the heading of buyers remorse.

If the seller wants to return your money in the interests of customer satisfaction then he's a class act but there is no reason he has to.

I see no issues with the piece. it looks like quality to me.

Thanks for all the replies - they have been helpful and helped me see where I went wrong here.

I made an assumption because I've never seen a ground razor blade without markings on the tang, especially one with a Gold wash already on the blade, it's just a very unexpected thing to see for me.

It's true - live and learn. I'll try not to be more careful in the future.

Ebay is very evil however. So many razors daily on offer and I have managed to pick up quite a few nice ones, I think. Will post piccies when time permits.

Pretty sure that is a Dorko. I have a NOS exact copy of that razor (exact same blade etch and scales) that the tang is stamped Dorko. Probably just made it out of the factory unstamped.

Sounds like this might be a factory second then. Harvitz, do you happen to have a picture or two your Dorko? I'll PM you my email if necessary.
