What's up with W&Bs recently?
I know the price goes all over the place and W&Bs are really desired, but lately it seems like they have gone through the roof. Like this one:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/VINTAGE-STRA...ht_3210wt_1139
It's not even 9/8, and even before the crazy bidding at the end it was up to like $230. I'm almost tempted to list mine and hope to get another someday for much less
Or am I missing something here?
Edit: not sure why I have such a hard time making links work...Last edited by ScienceGuy; 12-23-2011 at 03:07 AM.

Item number: 130617873120 if the link doesn't work. Yeah they go up and down. I got mine, basically identical, for $80.00 a few years ago. Just lucked out. Got a Celebrated Barber's Use W&B for $15.00 on a buy it now before that. Sometimes it bees that way.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

Thanked: 270You'd think they'd at least pick up the shipping cost for that price.

Those wide blades really can cause a bidding frenzy . It's a decent razor , but there is a little pitting on the blade , scratches from sandpaper , and one of the scales looks like it was broken , and repaired . Not one that I would pay top dollar , for .
Greetings , from Dundalk , Maryland . The place where normal people , fear to go .

Thanked: 12I could have bought a one the same size but with a little rust on the blade a week ago for $50. I need to restore it and throw it on the bay.

It's nuts, I saw one about a week ago with a huge amount of hone wear, some light rust and patina and their starting bid was like $225.00.
No one bid on it but that is rediculous. If it was fully restored maybe it would bring in some cash like that but not as it sat.

Thanked: 480Blame Lynn for getting in that news article. ALL prices have jumped up since then. Have you looked at the barber hones? they have quadrupled in just the last month!

Thanked: 1195W&B are just the flavour of the month, that's all. Just like Fili's (well, still are a flavour of the month I suppose) and Dubl Ducks before. Six months from now it could be Boker King Cutters or Friodurs, whatever. Hard to say where the trends will lead.
