Thread: NOS? Are you kidding me??

I saw a Filarmonica on e-bay listed as NOS, I could tell by the pictures it was well used. It had hone wear on it and patina or pitting I couldn't tell from the picks. Some people just slap that tag on without knowing what it means I think! Douches!

Everything that I've read refers to NOS being New but out dated.

I believe Nelson's definition is the only technically correct one, but nos can mean different things to different people. I started a thread about it a ways back, encouraging people to share what nos means to them. The responses were interesting.

Yup. NOS could accurately describe a rusted out piece of garbage.

It sounds like you got a bait and switch from the seller. I hope you get your money back.

We're talking about ebay , here . Some of these sellers might think (or at least tell you) NOS means "Now On Sale" . Always look at the pics , and go by what you see , as well as what you don't see . If the razor doesn't match the pics , and the seller won't respond in a timely manner , you should get ebay , and pay pal involved .

I'm afraid TheBigSpender and HNSB are correct: New Old Stock ("NOS") is subject to a wide interpretation. I have seen unused razors described as 'NOS' with rust and or tarnish and warped scales. I have also seen pristine razors with this description in the same condition as brand new ones with the original anti-rust paper intact with remnants of the oil applied at the factory all those years ago.

If you are buying from the bay, the maxim of 'caveat emptor' applies. Buyer beware! It is for you to carry out due diligence and that's the way it is.

Why not post the sellers name here with the pics? Let everyone here make their own decision whether or not to do business with the seller. I'd like to know the sellers name so I know who to avoid.

I think that would be against SRP rules to post the name. I will post pics after the holiday.
