That's a cool lookin' tang. I wonder if it is awkward to shave with. I could imagine bumping it on the mirror while going in for a close-up. It certainly make the blade look small.

DePew's are pretty small. That one seems to have a good bit of hone wear, but it truely is a conversation piece. Someone who's used one care to chime in, are they good shavers?

I recall that Bill used to have one on his
site. It may have been the same brand
buy I'm not sure.
One of the guys have a monkey tail as
their avatar. It looks like the razor that
Bill had.

I find that it is, in fact, a pretty good shaver, but you have to be veeeery careful. It's a bit awkward. It's not for everybody, and the Depews are very collectible. I like mine I got from John West. It's one of those "I-don't-shave-with-it-much-but-I-ain't-getting-rid-of-it-because-it's-kinda-rare" razors.

That DePew of Bill's and the DePew avatar both belong to Mikey. I asked him when I saw the avatar. I looked at that razor on Bill's site constantly wondering whether to spring for it. Now it's not a temptation. (Yeah right.) Oh btw Bill gave it an 8+ as a shaver.

I have a Rogers which has an exaggerated monkey tail like that and though its a great shaver I don't use it much because the long tail and short tang throw off the geometry and you can't hold the razor in the usual way so it feels real awkward. Its kind of like beginning to shave all over again for the first time.

Thanked: 9Just got it. Was one of the important ones on my list. And, I figure, if I can't use it, it's an actual collectible because it is rare.
In my opinion, I got it at a bargain price, too
Cheers

Thanked: 2I picked up one of these one ebay.com for 45$us last week. I guess I got a pretty good deal too. I've been wanting a depew for quite a while now. When it arrives, it's headed to Joe Chandler for a hone job.
I picked up another longer tanged razor on ebay. Instead of a single swoop for the tail, it has two smaller swoops, like a spot for two fingers. I'll post pics when it arrives.

Thanked: 9The Joseph Roges? I liked this, but I really wanted the De Pew. The description for the Rogers said it's base value is 20, I bid 21 but then you guys decided to pay more
I was focusing on the 7/8 frameback (Joseph Elliot) from the same seller, which I got - for over 50...
But your deal on the De Pew is outstanding! I have seen much much more expensive than that!
Cheers
