    Default Ebay, email & Phishing

I don't know if there are any other "Security Now" listeners here. It's a podcast I listen to, as one of the ways I stay informed on internet security issues. In a recent episode there was some discussion of a phishing attack related to eBay. If you are security conscious, then it won't tell you anything you don't already know, but lots of people run their systems wide open or with relaxed security. There are plenty of people that aren't even aware that there are security options, practices etc. to decrease ones risk of being burned on the internet. I am posting this link to the transcript of the "Security Now" episode as a general heads up to the eBayers here.

Thanks for posting this. I've been a follower of Steve Gibson and his GRC.com site for many many years. His newsgroups have been a welcome source of info and aid in deciding what products are worthwhile in the security arena.

If you receive any email from either PayPal or ebay requesting an information update, forward the email to the appropriate address:

    spoof@paypal.com
    spoof@ebay.com

Odds are you'll quickly receive a email in return stating that it is a phishing eamil.
