Hrm... I was glad to see that the razor I'm bidding on didn't make the list.

I don't know what's wrong with the DOVO - I really can't tell from the picture. The Henry seems to have some active rust. The Rutter ones look like they were honed with a belt sander.

Those two razors with the green description boxes scream "Pakistan", no matter what the description says.

I've learned my ebay lesson (fortunately not the too hard way). It was my own damn fault, too. It was late, and I didn't read a description too closely, and am now the proud owner of a $10 pakistani... something. Box cutter, maybe, since it's not suitable to be shaved with. Maybe I'll try to hone it down into an icepick.

Going slightly off topic for a second, I was curious as to why Winchester razors seem to attract such a premium?
I'm not questioning your appraisal of this particular Winchester, but a lot of the Winchester razors seem to start at a fairly high price, is there any particular reason for this?
As for the razors you posted links for, like JerseyLawyer I would like to know why you chose the Dovo? To my, admittedly, untrained eye it seems passable; so it would be good to know, for future reference, what is wrong with it.
    Regards,
    Alex

Well the Dovo has a crummy description, that's for sure. The sum total of "Dovo, bone handle" is the only thing out of the three paragraphs that applies to the razor.

I would say that the two "new" razors are the worst of the bunch. The other ones could at least be sharpened into shanks of shivs, or even melted down to be used in a giant harpoon to catch a whale. But those newer pieces may as well be made of tinfoil, no?

    Whew!!!
I cringed as each came up, dreading that they may be on my watch list, or WORST have my name as the winning bidder. Thankfully none of those were on my list.
I personally like the two that have tree bark as scales.

You should provide a service Bill where we submit to you our eBay watchlists and you give them scores. I kinda like this "stay away from these" lists.

I'm actually bidding on one with a good deal of rust and don't even get me started on hone-wear, but that's because I like the steel of that particular maker and don't have any in my rotation/on the project bench with that particular tip design. I will however take the dust off your restoration CD and see what I can do about it.
