    Default Photoshop?

So, for my first "official" post, I have a question about a W&B on the bay that looks mighty suspicious...

WADE AND BUTCHERS SHEFFIELD STRAIGHT RAZOR CHOPPER DAMASCUS STEEL BLADE BARBER X | eBay

IMO, it's a fake. It looks like either a bad photoshop job, or a sticker, since the etching on W&B Damascus are probably the deepest in their line. This one looks surface etched at best.

Let me know what you think!

It's neither photoshopped or fake IMO, it's just a bad photographer and there's plenty old razors using damascus as a "buzzword" without it being damascus steel...

Not fake, if you look at the blade you see there's pitting and hone wear into the etching.

A lot of razors have the same type of etching as this one.

It's just an old well worn blade showing it's age and lack of care.

Yeah it's etched, and certainly doesn't look anything like fake, just very worn out missing probably 1/8" of its original steel.
I think the problem is that you're likely putting different meaning in 'Damascus', than W&B did when they etched that razor.

Actually, it's not the lack of waves, I was referring to the odd lines around the etchings, almost like someone put a sticker on it.

Just to chime in, I have an etched Wostenholm ~1900 that has that same sticker effect you describe. I'm sure someone else knows the process they used to produce it. I'm assuming they sealed off the rest of the blade and did an acid etch or something?
