Thanked: 3Old Spice glass bottle
I would like to find an Old Spice aftershave bottle in glass, as opposed to the newer plastic ones. Is there a way to tell, when looking on e-bay, what is glass and what is not? I see words like "vintage", "classic", and "crockery", but that doesn't mean much to me. Any help, Guys?

Barry,
The Ebayer will most likely state whether it is glass or not; they know that this is the big selling point. I find my glass Old Spice bottles in antique stores/malls. The are a lot out there on shelves, going for around $10.00.

Thanked: 118I found Old Spice in a glass bottle at Walmart just the other day.
Some of the differences in the old glass bottles and the new ones are the old logo had the big 3 masted schooners and a gray plug in the top. The new ones have a sailing ship with one or two triangular sails sails. The plug has sometimes been red or grey.
If it has the newer sailing ship you will have to ask.

The prices some of these ebayers are asking for Old Spice bottles are beyond ridiculous.

Guess I will hotfoot it down to wally world, see if I get lucky.
Old spice bottles can be roughly dated by material (First pottery, then glass), the ship on the bottle (Grand Turk, then Friendship, back to Grand Turk, then a switch to a sailboat). They can be dated by stoppers; first metal, then grey plastic, then red. More than a dozen variations since the company was started, in the US market alone.
Trivia question - which way does the ship face on the bottle, and has it always faced that way?
Good website on the subject here
I miss the glass bottles too... Some things in life shouldn't change.
